The car is now out on the road, running well.
I went to a local car cruise night, and realized that my paint finish
needed work.
A red AMX pulled in with a deep deep shine (red paint by coincidence.)
So, back to the body shop supply store to pick their brains and see what
I can do to bring out the shine on my paint.
The answer seeemed to be a 2 part solution: wet sand with 1000 grit paper and polish with a fine polishing compound and foam pad with a rotary polisher.
Well, I took a chance on the wet sanding, being that I have enough
paint to paint the car 3 more times. Since I don't have a polisher (yet)
I put the foam pad on my variable speed drill. Although its a bit tough
to handle, it gave me the chance to experiment with the sanding/polishing
procedure. The result was great first time out. I had to go back
over the area again with the sand paper to get the surface a bit smoother,
but the polish really makes a big difference right away, especially on
the flat surfaces. Pictures to come soon.
